Vietnam advances five crypto firms in first licensing review

  • Five companies have passed Vietnam’s initial review for crypto exchange licences.
  • No company has received a licence yet, and officials have not named the applicants.
  • Applicants need 10 trillion dong in capital and must meet strict security rules.

Vietnam has not issued its first crypto exchange licence, but five firms passed an initial review.

To Tran Hoa, deputy head of Vietnam’s Digital Asset Trading Market Board, confirmed the progress.

The update came during the Vietnam RWA Summit 2026, as the country prepares its digital asset market pilot.

Passing the review does not allow any company to operate an exchange.

Authorities have not said when final licensing decisions will be made or identified the five applicants.

Applicants must have at least 10 trillion Vietnamese dong, worth about US$383 million, in contributed charter capital.

At least 65% of the capital must come from institutional shareholders, while applicants must meet strict security and anti-money laundering rules.
