VanEck seeks to withdraw proposed staked Ether ETF
- VanEck has filed to withdraw its proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
- The fund was designed to provide exposure to staked Ether through Lido’s stETH token.
- The withdrawal request ends this registration process unless VanEck pursues a new filing.
VanEck Digital Assets filed the withdrawal request on 14 October 2026, seeking to cancel its ETF registration.
The proposed fund’s registration statement was initially filed with the SEC on 16 October 2025.
The filing states VanEck “does not intend to proceed with the planned distribution,” said VanEck Vice President Matthew A. Babinsky.
The request seeks withdrawal under Rule 477 of the Securities Act of 1933.
VanEck confirmed the registration statement had not become effective and no shares had been issued or sold.
The proposed ETF was designed to track Lido Staked Ether, a token representing Ether staked through Lido’s liquid staking protocol.
The withdrawal removes this proposed fund from the current registration process, while leaving VanEck free to consider future filings.
The filing confirms that investors will not receive shares through this proposed ETF registration.
