Coindesk poll shows voters doubt Trump on crypto
Most U.S. voters do not trust President Donald Trump to oversee the crypto sector, with 62% expressing a lack of confidence, according to a survey commissioned by CoinDesk.
The poll found that despite the administration’s push to position the U.S. as a global crypto hub, public sentiment remains cautious, with broader approval ratings for Trump sitting at 40%.
Around 73% of respondents said senior government officials should not have personal financial interests in crypto, while 45% were aware of Trump family involvement in digital asset ventures.
“The president has continually delivered on his promise to ensure that one of the most important technological breakthroughs of the century develops and thrives in America,”
A spokesperson for World Liberty Financial said.
The findings come as lawmakers debate the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which could introduce restrictions on officials holding crypto-related business interests.
Only 17% of respondents knew about Trump’s backing of World Liberty, suggesting limited awareness of potential conflicts despite widespread concern.
The survey of 1,000 voters highlights ongoing scepticism toward crypto’s role in the economy and the political system, even as the industry pushes for regulatory clarity.
The results underscore the challenge facing policymakers as they attempt to balance industry growth with public trust ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
