Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has alleged that millions of dollars in seized cryptocurrency held by the US government were misappropriated.
The claims centre on John “Lick” Daghita, who is accused of controlling wallets linked to confiscated government crypto assets.
Daghita is the son of Dean Daghita, president of CMDSS, a firm that says it provides services to the US Department of Justice and Department of Defense.
ZachXBT said the alleged theft came to light after a recorded Telegram dispute in which a hacker screen-shared wallets tied to seized assets.
The wallets were later traced to more than $40 million in crypto linked to US government seizure addresses.
The investigator claimed the same individual controlled over $90 million in suspected illicit funds across multiple wallets.
Assets linked to the Bitfinex hack were among those allegedly moved from government-associated addresses.
Recordings reviewed by ZachXBT showed Ethereum and Tron being transferred in real time, suggesting direct control of the wallets.
Following the allegations, CMDSS reportedly removed its website and social media presence.
