Two Texas brothers have been sentenced to a combined 366 months in prison for kidnapping a Minnesota family and stealing $8 million in cryptocurrency.

The September 2025 robbery took place in Grant, Minnesota, where the defendants targeted the family at gunpoint.

“The Garcia brothers committed a brazen and calculated act of violence against the victim and his family,” United States Attorney Daniel N. Rosen said in a statement.

The brothers held the family hostage for more than nine hours while demanding access to the victim's cryptocurrency accounts.

Raymond Christian Garcia received 180 months in prison, while Isiah Angelo Garcia received 186 months after both pleaded guilty.

The defendants travelled from Texas to Minnesota before forcing the victim to transfer more than $8 million in digital assets.

The FBI and Washington County Sheriff's Office investigated the case, leading to both arrests near Houston, Texas.

The sentences underscore federal efforts to prosecute violent robberies targeting cryptocurrency holders.
