US Senators Bill Cassidy and Cynthia Lummis introduced legislation to support domestic Bitcoin mining and reduce reliance on foreign-linked infrastructure.

The proposed “Mined in America” Act would allow the US Commerce Department to certify mining operations, granting approved firms access to federal support programmes.

“The Mined in America Act brings this industry home through forward-thinking initiatives to secure our financial future,”

Lummis said.

The bill requires certified miners to phase out equipment tied to foreign adversaries such as China and Russia, while encouraging domestic manufacturing of mining hardware.

Supporters argue the move would strengthen supply chains, boost US manufacturing and create jobs, particularly as data centre demand rises alongside artificial intelligence growth.

The proposal also aligns with President Donald Trump’s push to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, embedding that policy direction into legislation.

The initiative comes as Bitcoin miners face profitability pressure and growing dependence on foreign-made machines, which currently account for the majority of global mining hardware.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $66,685.74.
