South Korean crypto exchange Upbit processed about ₩1.15 trillion, or $830 million, in one hour.
The volume spike came around 05:00 UTC on 22 August as major crypto prices dropped sharply before recovering.
Upbit’s 24-hour trading volume reached about $3.82 billion during the market volatility.
XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) accounted for 32.20% of Upbit’s measured volume, followed by TRUMP at 10.93%.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) and Ether (CRYPTO:ETH) accounted for 5.40% and 5.44% of the exchange’s volume.
CoinGlass data showed about $523 million in crypto positions were liquidated within one hour, including $448 million in long positions.
The spike followed a 54.6% fall in trading across South Korea’s five won-based exchanges during the first half of 2026.
