
Trump-linked brand denies launching GOLD token
- A Solana-based GOLD token collapsed about 99% after wallets linked by Lookonchain sold 224.5 million tokens.
- GOLD’s market capitalisation fell from about US$50 million to US$500,000.
- Real Trump Coins later denied launching or authorising the token, blaming “third-party bad actors”.
Real Trump Coins promoted the Trump Digital GOLD token before related posts were deleted, while GOLD’s market value fell about 99%.
Lookonchain said the developer held 600 million GOLD, while 15 new wallets bought another 224.5 million tokens.
“The team currently controls 82.45% of the total supply. Be cautious!” Lookonchain said.
The 15 wallets later sold 224.5 million GOLD for 3,178 Solana (CRYPTO:SOL), worth about US$330,000, according to Lookonchain.
GOLD’s market capitalisation then fell from about US$50 million to US$500,000, according to DEX Screener, while Lookonchain estimated the wallets made US$312,000.
Real Trump Coins later denied launching, promoting or authorising any digital token and blamed the GOLD promotion on “third-party bad actors”.
The brand had been publicly promoted by US President Donald Trump in 2024, while his official X account continues to follow the account that promoted GOLD.
