Trump extends Iran ceasefire as talks falter

Donald Trump extended a ceasefire with Iran as negotiations faltered, easing immediate escalation risks but leaving markets on edge.

Investor sentiment had already weakened amid uncertainty over whether Tehran would attend further talks, following earlier failed negotiations and ongoing disputes over sanctions and military pressure.

“Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured… we have been asked to hold our Attack… until such time as their leaders… can come up with a unified proposal,”

Trump said.

Reports suggest Iran may skip upcoming talks in Pakistan, citing objections to negotiations conducted under pressure and ongoing US maritime restrictions.

Markets reacted sharply to the uncertainty, with Bitcoin briefly falling to around $75,000 while oil prices spiked to $92.04 on fears of supply disruption.

Following Trump’s announcement, oil eased to about $88.82 and crypto markets stabilised, highlighting how quickly sentiment shifts with geopolitical developments.

At last check, Bitcoin traded near $75,628, while Ethereum hovered around $2,312 and XRP held near $1.42 as traders continued to react to headlines.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $75,821.86.
