Strategy raises $2B but pauses Bitcoin buys

Strategy raised about US$2 billion through common stock sales while making no Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) purchases last week.

The company sold 18.26 million MSTR shares between 17 and 23 August through its at-the-market programme.

Strategy repurchased about 1.43 million STRC preferred shares for US$136.4 million from the proceeds.

It also added US$300 million to its dollar reserve and placed US$1.59 billion into a new cash account.

Strategy held 840,447 Bitcoin worth about US$66 billion, with an average purchase price of US$75,385.

The company first established its dollar reserve in December 2025 with US$1.44 billion for dividends and debt interest.

Strategy increased that reserve from US$900 million at the end of May to US$5.1 billion by 23 August.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $78,970.92.
