Strategy Chief Executive Officer Phong Le described Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) as the "United States of money" while reaffirming his long-term confidence in the cryptocurrency and his company's Bitcoin treasury strategy.
A securities filing dated 22 June showed Le purchased 11,000 Strategy Stretch preferred shares through a family trust for approximately US$998,756 at a weighted average price of US$90.80 per share, with blockchain analytics firm Arkham reporting the investment has since returned to break-even.
"Bitcoin is the United States of money. It aspires to do for money what the American Constitution aspired to do for government: create a system governed by transparent rules rather than the discretion of individuals," said Le.
Strategy designed STRC to trade near its US$100 par value by adjusting its monthly dividend, increasing the annual dividend rate to 12% from 9% since its July 2025 launch, while Le said he intends to hold his investment beyond the shares returning to par value.
Le has also said Bitcoin could become a global reserve asset within the next decade, although he presented this as his personal expectation rather than a certainty, and Strategy shares were not materially affected following his latest comments.
Strategy remains the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder with 818,334 Bitcoin, continuing the treasury strategy introduced by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor in 2020 despite recent market volatility.
The comments highlight differing views on corporate Bitcoin strategies, with Strategy continuing to expand its Bitcoin holdings while other market participants debate whether institutional adoption or broader macroeconomic conditions will drive the cryptocurrency's long-term value.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $63,615.45.
