  • Stephen Newnham is running in a UK by-election with policies supporting pension self-custody and blockchain transparency.
  • The campaign brings crypto policy into the Clacton parliamentary race.
  • Newnham said the plan aims to give people more control over pensions and improve political transparency.

Stephen Newnham, leader of Superteam UK for Solana (CRYPTO:SOL), is running in the Clacton by-election as an independent candidate.

His campaign supports pension self-custody, financial education, onchain transparency and more support for local businesses.

"You should own your pension," Newnham said.

He also pledged to publish campaign donations and meetings onchain and in plain English.

The campaign does not explain how blockchain would manage pensions or what laws would need to change.

The by-election follows Nigel Farage's resignation as Clacton's MP during a parliamentary standards investigation.

Newnham leads Superteam UK and said Britain should do more to keep blockchain developers and startup founders in the country.

At the time of reporting, Solana price was $77.59.
