Solana gains reliability as concentration risks persist
- Solana has operated for more than two years without a major mainnet outage, according to Fidelity’s Center for Applied Technology.
- Tokenised real-world assets on Solana grew from about $1 billion to $4.4 billion in one year, while stablecoin transaction volume exceeded $2 trillion in Q1 2026.
- The report flags concentrated validator stake, hosting infrastructure and software as risks to the network’s resilience.
Solana (SOL) has gone more than two years without a major mainnet outage, according to Fidelity’s Center for Applied Technology (FCAT).
The report links Solana’s adoption growth to $4.4 billion in tokenised real-world assets and more than $2 trillion in Q1 2026 stablecoin volume.
FCAT identifies decentralisation, shared infrastructure and software diversity as key areas to monitor as network usage expands.
Around 20 validator identities controlled more than one-third of active stake in Q3 2026, according to the report.
The report estimates that roughly 40% of Solana’s stake was concentrated in Frankfurt and Amsterdam, based on IP geolocation data.
Solana’s August 2026 routing failure took about 90 validators offline for 33 minutes, with affected stake narrowly avoiding the one-third threshold that could halt transaction finality.
FCAT also highlighted progress in independent validator software, including Firedancer, while noting that many configurations still rely on shared Agave code.
Following the report, SOL was trading up 1.9% at $105.62.
