
SBI Holdings invests $270M for Ajaib stake
- SBI Holdings has invested US$270 million in Indonesian platform Ajaib, taking an approximately 20% stake.
- SBI Holdings shares closed 0.65% higher at ¥3,427 on 28 August.
- The investment supports SBI Holdings’ plan to expand digital-asset services across Southeast Asia.
SBI Holdings has invested US$270 million in Indonesian investment platform Ajaib, taking an approximately 20% stake.
Ajaib said the investment marked Indonesia’s largest technology funding round since 2022 and took its total funding above US$500 million since 2019.
“In this era of tokenisation, the importance of global infrastructure for digital assets is greater than ever,” said SBI Holdings Chairman and President Yoshitaka Kitao.
SBI Holdings said the investment makes Ajaib an equity-method affiliate, while Ajaib provides access to equities, bonds, funds, crypto assets, stablecoins and foreign exchange.
Following the announcement, SBI Holdings share price was up 0.65% at ¥3,427 on 28 August.
SBI Holdings operates crypto exchanges in Japan and Singapore, alongside crypto market maker B2C2 in the UK.
The company said the Ajaib investment supports its broader “SBI APAC Digital Economic Zone” initiative and digital-asset expansion across Southeast Asia.
