Robinhood CEO backs RWA strategy after CASHCAT surge
- Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) CEO Vladimir Tenev said the Robinhood Chain also performs well for memecoins despite its focus on real-world assets.
- CASHCAT surged about 950% over the past 24 hours, drawing attention to activity on the Robinhood Chain.
- Tenev said the blockchain is designed for RWA settlement while also supporting low-cost, high-throughput transactions for other digital assets.
Robinhood CEO Vladimir Tenev said the Robinhood Chain supports memecoin activity alongside its primary goal of enabling real-world asset tokenisation after the CASHCAT memecoin rose about 950% in 24 hours.
The comments contrast with Tenev's July 3 remarks that the future of digital assets lies in real-world assets rather than memecoins without tangible utility, although he did not rule out support for speculative tokens.
“The future of digital assets lies in real-world assets,” Tenev said on July 3 when discussing Robinhood's long-term blockchain strategy.
Tenev said the Robinhood Chain is built for real-world asset settlement but added that its infrastructure also delivers the high throughput and low transaction costs needed to support memecoin trading.
Following the surge in CASHCAT, Robinhood did not announce any change to its blockchain strategy, while the company continues to position tokenised real-world assets as its long-term focus.
The price jump in CASHCAT highlights continued demand for speculative digital assets even as blockchain developers increasingly focus on practical financial applications such as tokenised securities and other real-world assets.
Robinhood has continued expanding its blockchain ambitions by developing infrastructure for tokenised assets, while its latest comments suggest the network is capable of supporting both utility-driven projects and speculative crypto activity.
