Ripple signs five-year Kansas XRP partnership

Ripple has signed a five-year partnership with the University of Kansas that will place the XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) logo on Jayhawks football, basketball and other team uniforms while supporting blockchain education programmes.

The agreement follows Ripple's recent approval as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, allowing the company to offer regulated cryptocurrency services across the European Economic Area.

“XRP Family, meet the Jayhawks,” said Ripple Chief Executive Officer Brad Garlinghouse.

Ripple said the partnership includes financial literacy and digital asset education programmes for student-athletes and the wider university community, building on the university's existing XRP Ledger validator and its participation in Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative.

The sponsorship expands Ripple's brand presence in US college athletics, and as Ripple is a privately held company there was no share price reaction following the announcement.

The University of Kansas has previously received a multimillion-dollar grant through Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative to support blockchain research and education, while its engineering school operates an official XRP Ledger validator.

The announcement comes as XRP traded around US$1.08 after moving between US$1.08 and US$1.13 over the previous 24 hours, while spot XRP exchange-traded funds have recorded nine consecutive weeks of net inflows according to earlier reports.
