Revolut has faced a reported 10,000 Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) ransom demand after attackers began publishing customer data.

The attackers obtained sensitive information after using fraudulent requests sent from a legitimate government agency email domain.

Revolut said its systems and customer funds were unaffected, while affected customers were contacted directly.

The exposed information may include identity documents, addresses, phone numbers, account statements and transaction histories, including Bitcoin transactions.

The company described the incident as a sophisticated external impersonation scam rather than a direct intrusion into its systems.

Revolut has blocked the fraudulent email address and notified government agencies, law enforcement, regulators and data protection authorities.

The reported 10,000 BTC demand remains an attacker claim, while Revolut has not confirmed the ransom amount.
