Ray Dalio urged investors to favour gold and Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) over bonds amid growing US debt concerns.

The Bridgewater Associates founder said a US debt crisis could arrive within three years, give or take two.

“My guess, which I suppose will be a bad one, is that [a US debt crisis] will come in three years, give or take two, if the course we’re on is not changed,” Dalio wrote.

Dalio suggested investors hold 10% to 15% of their portfolios in gold to help reduce risk.

He also advised investors to underweight debt assets such as bonds and overweight gold and a small amount of Bitcoin.

Dalio linked his warning to rising government debt, fiscal deficits and risks around political and geopolitical conflicts.

His latest comments build on earlier support for Bitcoin, after he said in 2022 that holding 1% to 2% was reasonable.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $77,438.36.
