Rakuten Wallet expands SHIB campaign with souvenir coin
- Rakuten Wallet is preparing a physical Shiba Inu souvenir coin while expanding promotional campaigns featuring SHIB in Japan.
- The initiative broadens SHIB's retail exposure through merchandise and token reward programmes rather than introducing a new blockchain asset.
- The campaign highlights how major Japanese consumer brands continue integrating cryptocurrencies into mainstream customer engagement strategies.
Rakuten Wallet is preparing a physical Shiba Inu (CRYPTO:SHIB) souvenir coin for its "Real Coin" series while launching new promotional campaigns that use SHIB rewards to strengthen retail engagement in Japan.
The replica coin joins existing Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) and XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) souvenir coins, although the company said it is intended as merchandise rather than a blockchain-based digital asset and has not confirmed a release date.
Rakuten Wallet is also offering up to 1.5 million SHIB to eligible customers who meet spot cryptocurrency trading thresholds, with users trading more than ¥30,000 receiving 500,000 SHIB and those exceeding ¥100,000 qualifying for an additional one million SHIB.
The latest campaign follows earlier Rakuten Wallet promotions that rewarded users with SHIB and Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) through social media activities and comes after the platform added both meme coins to its list of supported digital assets.
The initiative further expands SHIB's presence within the broader Rakuten ecosystem, one of Japan's largest consumer internet groups, as the company continues linking cryptocurrency services with its retail and customer rewards platforms.
Rakuten has also broadened its digital asset offering by enabling XRP-related services, including loyalty point conversions and QR payment functionality, while Japan continues reviewing regulatory and tax reforms aimed at wider cryptocurrency adoption.
Despite the increased retail promotion, SHIB remained under pressure, trading near US$0.0000044 after falling more than 9% over the past week and over 20% during the past month as broader meme coin market sentiment remained weak.
At the time of reporting, Shiba Inu price was $0.05408.
