Polygon prepares permissionless burn of 100M POL
- Polygon (CRYPTO:POL) has prepared a permissionless mechanism to burn 100 million POL.
- The burn contracts have reached testnet and await final Security Council signatures before mainnet deployment.
- Future base-fee burns will also become community-callable each quarter.
Polygon (CRYPTO:POL) has prepared a permissionless contract to burn 100 million POL.
The burn contracts have been deployed on testnet and still require final Security Council signatures.
“Contracts are on testnet and await final Security Council signatures, with later base-fee burns set to become community-callable each quarter,” said Sandeep Nailwal.
The planned burn will remove 100 million POL from circulation through Polygon’s burn mechanism.
Polygon has also introduced a system that will allow community members to trigger future base-fee burns each quarter.
The first 100 million POL burn has not yet been completed because the contracts remain on testnet.
The mechanism will give Polygon’s community a direct role in triggering future token burns once it reaches mainnet.
