Optimism approves upgrade for Superchain interoperability
- Optimism governance has approved Upgrade 20 for its Superchain infrastructure.
- The upgrade will move four testnets to Super Root Dispute Games.
- Mainnet deployment is targeted for September 24, subject to a seven-day testnet soak.
Optimism governance has approved Upgrade 20, a change needed for the network’s planned Superchain interoperability.
The upgrade will move four OP Stack testnets to Super Root Dispute Games before the proposed mainnet rollout.
The testnets are OP Sepolia, Ink Sepolia, Soneium Minato and Unichain Sepolia.
Upgrade 20 will replace Output Root Dispute Games with timestamp-based Super Root Dispute Games.
The change will update how Optimism handles fault proofs and withdrawal security across its Superchain infrastructure.
Optimism has targeted September 24 for the mainnet rollout, provided the testnet deployment completes a healthy seven-day soak.
The upgrade will prepare the security layer for Superchain interoperability, but it does not mean interoperability has already gone live.
