NEAR Protocol (CRYPTO:NEAR) co-founder Illia Polosukhin proposed a 30 million NEAR sovereign fund worth about US$57 million.
The plan would direct current and future protocol revenue into a NEAR-denominated fund instead of immediately spending or burning incoming assets.
“If this proves to be successful,” Polosukhin said, the network could gradually reduce inflation and potentially move towards a fixed supply.
Returns could fund validators, multiparty computation providers and other public services, while governance would determine spending and operating rules.
The proposal remains under discussion, with stakeholders given two weeks to comment before supporters consider formal governance steps.
NEAR reduced its maximum annual inflation rate from about 5% to 2.5% in late 2025 as part of earlier tokenomics changes.
The network also activated an Intents fee switch in February 2026, directing protocol revenue towards NEAR purchases.
At the time of reporting, NEAR Protocol price was $1.75.
