  • Mt Gox has extended its repayment deadline by one year, moving it from 31 October 2026 to 31 October 2027.
  • The extension covers base, early lump-sum and intermediate repayments, with court permission granted for the change.
  • The move gives creditors who have not completed repayment procedures or encountered processing issues more time to receive funds.

Mt Gox has extended its deadline for remaining creditor repayments to 31 October 2027, pushing back the previous deadline by one year.

The extension covers base repayments, early lump-sum repayments and intermediate repayments, following approval from the court overseeing the rehabilitation process.

Rehabilitation Trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi said the change aims to complete repayments for creditors who have yet to receive funds.

Many creditors remain unpaid because they have not completed the required procedures or have encountered problems during the repayment process.

The trustee said repayments to those creditors should proceed where reasonably practicable, prompting the deadline extension.

Repayment efforts follow Mt Gox’s 2014 collapse, when the exchange reported approximately 850,000 missing Bitcoin, including customer funds.

Creditors must use Mt Gox’s online rehabilitation claim system to submit enquiries and address outstanding repayment issues.

The extension gives eligible creditors another year to resolve outstanding requirements as Mt Gox continues its rehabilitation repayments.
