  • MetaMask is exiting affected Ethereum validators after identifying an infrastructure security incident.
  • The validator exit process is expected to finish by October 7.
  • Lido says exited ETH will gradually return through withdrawal and re-entry.

MetaMask has begun exiting affected Ethereum validators from Lido after identifying an infrastructure security incident.

MetaMask said its investigation covers part of its infrastructure and involves external security partners.

The company said it has identified no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets.

The affected validators operate through MetaMask’s non-custodial staking service, which does not control clients’ withdrawal keys.

Lido said the final affected MetaMask validator is scheduled to exit by October 7.

The exited Ethereum (ETH) will gradually return to Lido through withdrawal and validator re-entry.

Lido said the full exit, withdrawal and re-entry process could take about 45 days because of validator entry queues.

Following the update, MetaMask said it would continue monitoring the incident and provide further updates.
