  • Mastercard and BVNK have launched a platform combining traditional currencies and stablecoins through a single API.
  • The platform supports multi-currency accounts, real-time conversions, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts.
  • Mastercard expects its payment network to support broader stablecoin use, with coverage planned across more than 200 countries and territories in 2027.

Mastercard (NYSE:MA) and BVNK have launched the Global Money Platform, allowing businesses to manage traditional currencies and stablecoins through a single integration.

The platform combines Mastercard’s global payment network with BVNK’s stablecoin infrastructure, following Mastercard’s acquisition of BVNK in August 2026.

“With Global Money Platform, we’re delivering on our promise to connect BVNK’s technology with the scale and trust of Mastercard,” according to Chris Harmse, BVNK’s co-founder and chief business officer.

Businesses can use the platform to offer multi-currency accounts, convert between fiat currencies and stablecoins in real time, issue stablecoin-linked cards and make local bank payouts through Mastercard Move.

The platform integrates Mastercard Move, which reaches more than 17 billion endpoints, while coverage is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027.

Customers will also be able to spend stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s global network of hundreds of millions of merchant locations, with card issuance available in more than 130 countries.

Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech are among the first businesses expected to integrate the platform, which Mastercard says will support additional payment models, including agentic commerce and tokenised deposits.

Following the announcement, Mastercard (NYSE:MA) shares were up 2.17% at $616.32.
