- MARA Holdings has bought 1,292 Bitcoin worth about $98.64 million.
- The purchase has been completed through crypto prime broker FalconX.
- The acquisition has added to MARA’s growing Bitcoin treasury.
MARA Holdings has bought 1,292 Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) worth about $98.64 million through FalconX.
The purchase has come as Bitcoin has traded near $75,500, with the latest acquisition adding to the miner’s existing digital asset holdings.
The transaction has taken place roughly nine hours before the purchase was identified on September 16, with each Bitcoin valued at about $76,347.
The acquisition has followed a difficult period for Bitcoin miners as rising infrastructure costs and competition for power have pushed some operators towards artificial intelligence data centres.
MARA has also expanded its digital infrastructure strategy, including plans to use its power and data-centre assets for AI and high-performance computing operations.
The purchase has also come as several major AI executives have debated the pace and safety of further AI development, although no direct link has been established between that debate and MARA’s Bitcoin acquisition.
MARA’s latest Bitcoin purchase has therefore strengthened its cryptocurrency holdings while the company continues to develop both Bitcoin mining and AI infrastructure operations.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $75,941.18.
