London Stock Exchange plans tokenised UK stocks
- London Stock Exchange plans to offer tokenised UK stocks from 2027.
- The stocks are expected to trade on LSE 24, a new 24/5 venue.
- The move extends traditional exchanges’ push into blockchain-based equity markets.
London Stock Exchange plans to offer tokenised UK stocks through a partnership with Kraken parent Payward from 2027.
The products would track leading UK equities and trade on the exchange’s new LSE 24 venue.
LSE 24 is designed to provide trading from Monday to Friday, extending access beyond standard market hours.
Payward chief commercial officer Mark Greenberg disclosed the planned launch to the Financial Times, according to Cointelegraph.
The initiative would give investors fractional exposure to UK equities through blockchain-based products on a traditional exchange.
The move follows similar tokenisation efforts from Nasdaq, CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange, which owns the New York Stock Exchange.
Tokenised stocks reached $2.53 billion in total value, while holders increased 153% to 2.45 million over 30 days.
