Kraken targets football fans through global sponsorships
- Crypto exchange Kraken is strengthening its presence in football through partnerships with Tottenham Hotspur and the FIFA World Cup 2026.
- The company is using major sporting events to introduce cryptocurrency products and education to a broader audience.
- The strategy reflects a wider trend of crypto firms returning to high-profile sports sponsorships.
Kraken is expanding its sports marketing strategy by building on its partnership with Tottenham Hotspur while serving as the Official Crypto Exchange Supporter of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The cryptocurrency exchange said the partnerships are intended to engage football fans through digital experiences, educational initiatives and product activations during one of the world's largest sporting events.
Kraken has already become Tottenham Hotspur's Official Crypto and Web3 Partner and sleeve sponsor, providing a platform to connect with supporters throughout the football season.
The company plans to host fan activations across the World Cup's 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States as it seeks to raise awareness of digital assets among football supporters.
Kraken said the football partnerships form part of a broader strategy that also includes sponsorships with Atlético de Madrid, RB Leipzig and the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula 1 team.
"Kraken has a vision that crypto, like football, should be accessible to everyone," Kraken Chief Marketing Officer Mayur Gupta said when announcing the Tottenham partnership.
The renewed investment in sports sponsorships signals that cryptocurrency companies are once again using major global sporting events to reach mainstream audiences following a slowdown in marketing activity after the 2022 digital asset market downturn.
