Kraken joins FIFA World Cup 2026 as official crypto exchange
Kraken has been named the official crypto exchange of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the tournament begins across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The partnership places one of the crypto industry’s longest-running exchanges in front of a global football audience during one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
The 2026 tournament is being staged in 16 cities, giving Kraken a major platform to promote crypto adoption alongside World Cup fan engagement.
Kraken is using the campaign to connect football supporters with crypto users by comparing loyal fans with long-term digital asset holders.
"Some watch every match; some only the ones that matter. Some are ride-or-die for one team — every win, every heartbreak, for life. Others just love the game, no matter who’s playing. Crypto’s no different. Some study every chart. Some go all-in on one coin and hold for years. Others just want a bit of everything. Kraken is built for all of them,"
Kraken said.
FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai said the partnership reflects FIFA’s broader interest in technology and fan-focused innovation.
"Innovation has always played a central role in how FIFA evolves and enhances the fan experience. As we prepare to welcome the world to the biggest FIFA World Cup in history, we are delighted to partner with Kraken, an organisation that shares our commitment to innovation and technology,"
Romy Gai said.
The deal also highlights how crypto companies continue to seek mainstream visibility through global sports partnerships.
Sports sponsorships have become an important route for digital asset firms looking to reach audiences beyond existing crypto traders.
Among the official venues in the United States, Atlanta Stadium in Georgia is set to host eight World Cup matches.
Following the FIFA opening ceremony, H3R Story Foundation hosted the H3R Power Room in Atlanta to highlight women and girls in sport, including football.
The event focused on access, digital literacy and the economic opportunities linked to the fast-growing football industry.
"We’re focused on making sure that as football’s economy scales toward an estimated $40 billion around this World Cup, women and girls are part of that innovation story from the start, not added in afterward. The future of the game is being built right now, and it should be built by everyone,"
Nichelle Gainey said.
H3R Story Foundation is using digital literacy and gaming initiatives to bring emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain into sports access programmes.
The foundation’s work reflects a wider push to ensure new technology benefits more communities as sports, media and digital finance become more connected.
Kraken’s World Cup role fits that theme by presenting crypto as part of a broader shift towards open and mobile-first financial services.
Kraken Co-CEO Arjun Sethi said the tournament gives the exchange a chance to show how digital finance can reach a global audience.
"For most of history, the best markets were open only to the few. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is where we show everyone else what they’ve been missing: an open, borderless financial system that anyone can join with a phone in their pocket. This isn’t a future concept. It’s here,"
Arjun Sethi said.
The partnership could increase Kraken’s brand recognition among football fans at a time when crypto firms are competing for trust, scale and mainstream relevance.
For the crypto sector, the World Cup deal signals that major sports bodies remain willing to work with digital asset platforms despite the industry’s regulatory and market challenges.
