Kalshi has blocked Washington users from accessing several event-contract markets following a court order.

The restrictions cover sports, elections, politics, entertainment, culture, technology and science markets.

Kalshi is asking a King County judge to reconsider the restrictions, arguing Washington treated competitor OG differently.

The amended injunction required Kalshi to use IP address and residency checks by 19 August.

A broader GeoComply system using multiple location sources must be operating by 2 September.

Kalshi could face a $120,000 daily penalty if it misses the second deadline without explaining the delay.

Kalshi argues federal law gives the Commodity Futures Trading Commission exclusive authority over its event contracts, while Washington says they are unlicensed gambling.
