Sun clashes with WLFI as token hits lows
Justin Sun publicly criticised World Liberty Financial (WLFI) over its governance practices and token lock-up structure, escalating tensions within the crypto community.
The Tron founder said governance decisions lacked transparency, claiming that a proposal on token lock-ups was dominated by a small number of wallets and restricted broader participation.
“The governance votes cited to justify the above actions were not conducted through fair or transparent procedures,”
Said Justin Sun, adding that outcomes appeared predetermined.
WLFI pushed back strongly, accusing Sun of making baseless allegations and warning it may pursue legal action in response to his claims.
The dispute comes as WLFI faces mounting criticism after confirming it used its own governance tokens as collateral to borrow stablecoins, raising concerns among investors.
The WLFI token dropped to an all-time low of around $0.07 following the controversy, reflecting weakening market confidence and ongoing community backlash.
With tensions escalating and legal threats emerging, the situation highlights growing scrutiny of governance and risk practices across decentralised finance platforms.
At the time of reporting, World Liberty Financial price was $0.07909.
