JPMorgan brings its deposit token to Ethereum
- JPMorgan Chase is bringing its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum for institutional clients, extending access beyond its existing blockchain infrastructure.
- JPM Coin represents commercial bank deposits in US dollars, rather than a privately issued stablecoin.
- The move could widen institutional access to tokenised bank payments, linking traditional deposits with public blockchain infrastructure.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) has launched JPM Coin (JPMD) on Ethereum (ETH), expanding its dollar deposit token to institutional clients.
The token first launched on Base in November 2025, enabling eligible clients to transfer dollar deposits around the clock.
“Tokenized financial infrastructure is no longer theoretical. It’s already restructuring liquidity, settlement, and digital asset workflows,” Global Head of Kinexys Labs Emma Landriault said in a statement.
JPMorgan expanded JPM Coin to Ethereum, citing the network’s established on-chain liquidity and tokenised asset ecosystem.
JPM Coin supports peer-to-peer transfers within the Ethereum Virtual Machine ecosystem, including Ethereum and Base, for approved institutional participants.
The token represents US dollar deposits held at JPMorgan, distinguishing it from stablecoins issued by private crypto companies.
Kinexys, JPMorgan’s blockchain business, has processed more than US$4 trillion in cumulative transactions and averages US$7 billion daily.
The expansion gives institutional clients another network for transferring dollar deposits and supporting transactions involving tokenised assets.
