Bitcoin-native auction platform Scarce City is auctioning a collection of personal items once owned by late crypto figure John McAfee.
The auction, titled the John McAfee Collection, includes 14 physical items ranging from travel documents to personal accessories.
McAfee was a prominent and controversial figure in cryptocurrency circles, known for championing bitcoin and anti-surveillance ideals.
Items listed include McAfee’s passport, sunglasses, podcast microphone, knife, slingshot and an electric prison razor.
Scarce City requires bidders to lock a refundable bitcoin deposit to participate in the auction.
The deposit is burned if the winning bidder fails to complete payment, with the runner-up invited to finalise the sale.
The auction is scheduled to take place on Jan. 29, 2026.
Scarce City previously attracted attention with an auction of Ross Ulbricht memorabilia following his presidential pardon.
One item in the McAfee collection includes a mask purchased in Italy during a European trip.
“In a journey filled with exploration and spontaneity, this mask stands out as a symbol of both playfulness and jest,”
