Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said the government will boost support for Web3 startups with more funding and simpler regulations.
Takaichi said startups will have better access to funding through public investment programs and financial institutions.
“We will strengthen support for startups through expanded funding and regulatory reform,” Takaichi said.
The government said Web3 companies can help drive innovation, create jobs and grow Japan's digital economy.
Japan has introduced several crypto and blockchain reforms in recent months to encourage investment and attract new businesses.
The latest measures build on the country's plan to expand blockchain, tokenisation and digital finance.
The announcement came during WebX 2026, where industry leaders, investors and policymakers gathered to discuss the future of Web3 in Japan.
