Japan has added Garantex Europe OU, known as Garantex, to Russia-related asset freeze measures.
The measures cover 33 Russian entities and nine individuals under Japan’s Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act.
Garantex Europe OU appears as entity number 402 in Japan’s official sanctions list.
Japan will require permission for payments involving the listed individuals and entities.
The restrictions also require permission for capital transactions involving listed parties, including deposits, trusts and loans.
Japan also introduced export restrictions covering four entities outside Russia and Belarus.
The measures form part of Japan’s broader response to the international situation surrounding Ukraine.
The initiative marks a direct shift towards tighter oversight across emerging digital asset markets.
