Hyperscale Data has signed a Master Service Agreement to deliver 20 megawatts of artificial intelligence computing capacity at its Michigan campus, marking a strategic move beyond Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) mining.
The agreement will use part of the company's existing infrastructure, which currently supports about 28 megawatts of Bitcoin mining operations, as Hyperscale redirects capacity towards AI computing services.
Hyperscale said its existing power agreements, cooling systems and data centre operations provide a foundation for the transition, while as of June 21 it held 726.94 Bitcoin valued at about US$45.9 million based on prevailing market prices.
The agreement reflects the company's effort to expand into AI infrastructure while maintaining cryptocurrency exposure, and following the announcement the Hyperscale Data share price was unchanged at US$1.83.
The shift follows a broader trend across the digital asset mining sector, with companies including Hive Digital Technologies and Riot Platforms also pursuing AI and high-performance computing opportunities after the 2024 Bitcoin halving reduced mining rewards.
Hyperscale's Michigan facility benefits from established power access and data centre infrastructure, and the company stated that its long-term growth in AI services will depend on securing additional customers and managing further capacity conversions.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $60,824.77.
