Pantera Capital said Hyperliquid (CRYPTO:HYPE) is helping drive the growth of onchain perpetual futures as trading expands beyond cryptocurrencies.
The firm said decentralised perpetual futures volume has increased from less than 1% to 14% of centralised exchange volume since Hyperliquid launched in 2023.
Pantera said Hyperliquid now handles about 40% of onchain perpetual futures trading and generated US$13.5 million in fees over the past seven days.
Pantera said perpetual futures offer 24/7 trading, no expiry dates and simpler position management than traditional futures contracts.
Hyperliquid is expanding into equities, commodities and stock indices as part of its broader trading strategy.
Intercontinental Exchange, the New York Stock Exchange and OKX are also developing blockchain-based trading platforms with 24/7 markets and tokenised assets.
At the time of reporting, Hyperliquid price was $67.50.
