HTX delists Trump-linked USD1 amid freeze dispute

Share

Crypto exchange HTX has removed support for the USD1 stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial, alleging the platform froze several exchange-linked blockchain addresses without proper justification.

HTX said the freeze restricted the circulation of certain World Liberty assets connected to the affected addresses and prompted the exchange to delist USD1 in order to protect users.

“The World Liberty Financial project team recently stated that it has unilaterally imposed a freeze on specific HTX on-chain addresses,”

HTX said.

The delisting took effect on Sunday, with USD1 deposits and conversion services suspended and user balances scheduled to be converted into Tether at a 1:1 ratio.

HTX also halted trading in WLFI/USDT, USD1/USDT, BTC/USD1 and ETH/USD1 pairs, while accusing World Liberty of acting without adequate communication, legal grounds or due process.

The dispute follows recent UK sanctions against a former Huobi-related entity, although HTX argued that the sanctioned company is separate from the current exchange and should not affect its operations.

World Liberty, which lists Donald Trump and his sons Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Barron Trump as advisers, has not publicly confirmed whether it froze HTX-linked addresses, but recently stated that it maintains risk-based sanctions compliance controls.

The latest clash comes amid an escalating legal battle between World Liberty and Justin Sun, who is associated with HTX and previously sued the project over allegations that it froze his tokens, while World Liberty later filed a defamation lawsuit against Sun over claims related to its token operations.

At the time of reporting, World Liberty Financial price was $0.05622.
