Hana Bank has issued a five-year $100 million foreign-currency digital bond through Euroclear's Digital Financial Market Infrastructure platform.
The transaction has used distributed-ledger technology for bond issuance, registration and settlement, completing the process on the day of issuance.
The deal has marked the first T+0 settlement for a foreign-currency bond in South Korea, cutting settlement from the usual three to five business days.
Hana Bank has used its existing Global Medium Term Note documentation for the digital bond.
The bond has remained connected to Euroclear's global settlement network, allowing institutional investors to trade it through their existing accounts and systems.
Standard Chartered has acted as the sole bookrunner for the transaction, overseeing its structuring, issuance and distribution.
Euroclear's D-FMI platform has previously supported digital securities transactions, including a €100 million digital bond issued by the World Bank's lending arm in 2023.
