GoMining announced it had mined the first known live Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) block using the Stratum V2 protocol through the DMND mining pool, allowing miners to construct their own block templates in a production environment.
The milestone moves transaction selection from mining pool operators to individual miners by using Stratum V2's job declaration feature, changing a process that has largely remained unchanged for more than a decade.
“This block demonstrates that miners can now participate in pooled mining while retaining control over block construction,” said Gomining Chief Executive Officer Mark Zalan.
The mined block included transactions processed through Gomining's GoBTC Pay payment protocol, while the company also recently integrated with Babylon's Trustless Bitcoin Vault to enable users to commit up to 1,000 Bitcoin to mining operations without using third-party custodians.
DMND Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Alejandro De La Torre said the milestone demonstrated the intended use of the mining pool, while industry participants expect wider adoption of Stratum V2 following the successful production deployment.
Stratum V2 is an open-source Bitcoin mining protocol designed to improve security, reduce data transmission requirements and give miners direct control over transaction selection during block creation.
The announcement reflects continued development of Bitcoin mining infrastructure as companies seek to improve decentralisation and expand non-custodial services across the network.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $60,278.22.
