Germany adds six banks under MiCA
- Six German cooperative banks received MiCA authorisations, taking Germany’s total to 79 licensed crypto providers.
- Germany now leads the EU, ahead of France with 35 and the Netherlands with 29.
- The EU now has 331 authorised crypto-asset service providers under MiCA.
Germany added six cooperative banks to its MiCA register, taking its authorised crypto providers to 79.
The six additions were all German cooperative banks, while France has 35 authorised providers and the Netherlands has 29.
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) now lists 331 authorised crypto-asset service providers across the EU.
The latest additions were Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried Überwald and Volksbank Backnang.
Germany has added 22 authorised providers since late June, while the wider EU register increased by 87 during that period.
MiCA covers services including crypto custody, trading platforms, asset exchanges, client orders, portfolio management and transfers.
BaFin said Germany’s lead partly reflects its large financial sector and earlier national rules for crypto custody before MiCA became fully applicable.
