
EU banks double MiCA presence to 80
- EU banks have doubled their MiCA register presence to about 80 institutions since June.
- Banks now represent nearly 23% of listed crypto-asset service providers in the EU.
- Germany has supplied many of the new banking entries, including Deutsche Bank and regional lenders.
EU banks have doubled their presence on the MiCA register to about 80 institutions since June 26.
The number of listed crypto-asset providers has also risen from 243 to 349 during the same period.
Banks now account for nearly 23% of listed providers, up from about 16% in June.
Germany has supplied many new entries, including Deutsche Bank and several regional cooperative banks.
Banks can enter the MiCA market through a notification process instead of applying under the standard CASP route.
Under Article 60, EU banks must notify their home regulator at least 40 working days before starting crypto services.
MiCA covers services including crypto custody, transfers, trading platforms, portfolio management and exchanges between crypto assets and funds.
