Ethlabs launches with five former Ethereum researchers
- Ethlabs launched as an independent Ethereum research organisation backed by Joe Lubin, Bitmine, Sharplink and other ecosystem participants.
- Five former Ethereum Foundation researchers have joined the non-profit to focus on core protocol development and infrastructure research.
- The group said it will study scaling, interoperability, settlement and institutional blockchain infrastructure as Ethereum adoption expands.
Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) added a new independent research organisation after Ethlabs launched with support from ecosystem backers and five former Ethereum Foundation researchers.
The launch reflects a broader trend of Ethereum development work moving beyond the Ethereum Foundation into independently funded research groups.
“As longtime contributors to the core protocol, we are establishing an independent non-profit organisation to advance Ethereum’s core technology and the shared standards and infrastructure builders depend on,” said Ethlabs Executive Director Ansgar Dietrichs.
Ethlabs said its research will focus on settlement speed, network capacity, native asset issuance, cross-chain interoperability and Ethereum’s monetary design, although the organisation did not disclose its funding amount.
The organisation said its priorities are linked to growing activity involving stablecoins, tokenised assets, investment products and AI-driven commerce, while Following the announcement the Ethereum price was unchanged at approximately US$3,700.
Ethlabs was founded by former Ethereum Foundation researchers Ansgar Dietrichs, Barnabé Monnot, Caspar Schwarz Schilling, Josh Rudolf and Julian Ma, who previously worked on scaling, finality, protocol economics and virtual machine development.
Supporters including Bitmine, Sharplink, Anchorage, Octant and SNZ will provide funding through an external grants structure, while Ethlabs said contributors will have no authority over research priorities, technical roadmaps or organisational decisions.
At the time of reporting, Ethereum price was $1,722.59.
