Ethereum shifts towards cryptographic computing by 2030
- Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin outlined a 2030 design built around cryptographic proofs and decentralised computing.
- The roadmap targets greater scale, privacy and verification without requiring every computer to repeat calculations.
- Buterin expects Ethereum’s transformation to accelerate after the planned Hegotá upgrade.
Ethereum (ETH) has begun moving towards a 2030 architecture built around cryptographic proofs and decentralised computing.
The network already uses proof-of-stake, zero-knowledge proofs and layer-2 networks for scaling and privacy.
“The missing ingredient was verification,” Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said in a statement.
The proposed design would let computers process separate tasks while others verify compact cryptographic proofs.
“Starting after Hegota, this transformation becomes Ethereum’s primary story,” Buterin said.
The roadmap adds recursive STARKs, automated formal verification and quantum-safe security after Hegota.
The design also targets privacy by hiding wallet requests alongside payment details and account rules.
Following the update, ETH was trading at $2,663.95.
