Ethereum sets 2029 target for quantum resistance
- Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) has set December 2029 as its target for quantum resistance.
- The plan covers the network’s execution, consensus and data systems.
- The Ethereum Foundation is also developing privacy tools, zkEVM proofs and faster finality.
Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) has set December 2029 as its target for quantum resistance.
The plan covers execution, consensus and data availability across the network.
The Ethereum Foundation has set 2029 as an engineering target, with 2030 used for planning.
The foundation expects outside experts to review quantum risks again in January 2027.
The Hegotá upgrade is also set to include EIP-8141 Frame Transactions.
Frame Transactions would support programmable validation, key changes and alternative gas payments.
EIP-8025 could add optional execution proofs, while broader quantum protection will also require changes across wallets, bridges, rollups and applications.
