Sacks exits czar role and shifts to tech advisory

Share

David Sacks has ended his 130-day tenure as US President Donald Trump’s crypto and AI czar but will continue advising the administration in a broader technology role.

Sacks will now serve as co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, where he will help shape policy across AI, crypto and other emerging sectors.

“We've now used up that time,”

Said David Sacks, noting he will continue making policy recommendations across industries.

During his tenure, Sacks helped drive key initiatives including a 166-page crypto policy report, the GENIUS Act and an AI framework focused on innovation and safeguards.

The new advisory group includes major tech leaders such as Jensen Huang, Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison, signalling a wider focus beyond crypto.

Sacks said a priority will be aligning US AI regulation under a unified federal approach rather than fragmented state-level rules.

The shift suggests continued influence for Sacks in crypto policy, though the broader mandate indicates AI may take precedence in the administration’s technology agenda.
