CZ says US needs competition to lead crypto
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said the United States could become a global crypto hub if it improves market competition, liquidity and infrastructure.
Speaking in an interview with The Digital Chamber, Zhao argued that the industry still has significant room for growth through institutional adoption and broader mainstream recognition.
He also criticised traditional media coverage of crypto, saying it often presents a one-sided and inaccurate narrative about both the industry and his role within it.
Zhao said misunderstandings around his reputation and Binance stem partly from limited engagement with traditional media, while crypto-native platforms provide more balanced coverage.
He added that perceptions of the sector are likely to improve over time as adoption increases and regulatory clarity develops.
Zhao noted that US consumers currently lack access to the best pricing and services compared to global markets, highlighting the need for stronger competition.
He said improved infrastructure and policy frameworks could help the US attract deeper liquidity and position itself as a leading centre for digital assets.
