Cysic suspends bridge after 10 million CYS minted
- Cysic suspended its cross-chain bridge after an unauthorised mint of 10 million CYS on BNB Smart Chain.
- The project blacklisted the receiving address, leaving approximately 2.8 million CYS there with transfers restricted.
- Cysic says its mainnet and existing assets in user wallets were unaffected as investigators examine the security breach.
Cysic suspended its cross-chain bridge after an attacker minted 10 million CYS (CRYPTO:CYS) without authorisation on BNB Smart Chain on 17 October 2026.
The incident involved the bridge’s message-processing system, with preliminary findings pointing to unauthorised access to a supporting database.
“The incident did not result in the theft or unauthorized transfer of existing CYS or other assets held in user wallets,” Cysic said in its incident report.
Cysic blacklisted the receiving address roughly 76 minutes after the mint, restricting transfers of the approximately 2.8 million CYS remaining there.
Blockchain data cited by The Block showed the attacker sold 7.2 million CYS and transferred the proceeds to Ethereum.
Cysic said the incident did not affect its mainnet or other operational systems beyond bridge processing and token minting.
The project hired an external security firm to investigate, while token movements and the incident’s final financial impact remain under review.
Following the update, CYS was trading down 12.0% at $0.1147.
