Crypto PACs celebrate Texas primary victories
Crypto-backed political action committees celebrated major victories in Texas congressional primaries after six supported candidates won runoff races backed by millions of dollars in campaign spending.
Industry-aligned PACs including Fairshake, Defend American Jobs, Protect Progress, Blockchain Leadership Fund and Fellowship supported candidates through endorsements and media spending exceeding $10 million combined.
“Rep. Green’s defeat proves that anti-crypto hostility carries real electoral consequences,”
Said Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter after incumbent Democrat Al Green lost to Christian Menefee in Texas’ 18th congressional district.
Ken Paxton also defeated incumbent Senator John Cornyn with support from Fellowship PAC, while several Republican House candidates backed by Defend American Jobs secured victories in smaller districts.
Fairshake reported holding more than $193 million available for campaign spending earlier this year as the crypto industry expands political influence ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections.
The next major test for crypto-backed PACs will come during June primaries across California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota, where industry groups have already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting pro-crypto Democratic candidates.
The growing political activity highlights how the cryptocurrency industry is increasingly using campaign financing to influence digital asset regulation and support lawmakers viewed as favourable toward crypto policy initiatives in Washington.
