Crypto PAC backs Indiana candidate with $514K spend

Crypto-backed PAC Defend American Jobs PAC spent about $514,000 supporting Republican Congressman James Baird ahead of Indiana’s primary election.

The group, affiliated with Fairshake, funded media campaigns backing Baird, who has supported key crypto legislation including the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act.

The Coinbase-linked advocacy group Stand With Crypto rated Baird as “strongly supports crypto.”

Baird faces Indiana state representative Craig Haggard in the primary as crypto-backed political spending ramps up ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections.

Fairshake and its affiliates, backed by firms including Coinbase and Ripple Labs, are expected to spend millions supporting pro-crypto candidates this cycle.

The PAC reported holding $193 million as of January and has already deployed funds across multiple states, including Illinois and Texas races.

The spending comes as US lawmakers weigh progress on the CLARITY Act, with crypto lobbying expected to play a growing role in shaping digital asset regulation ahead of November elections.
